From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

I noticed you buidling the Communigate systems article again. It was deleted yesterday as a copyright violation: Wikipedia is not a free webhost, and Wikipedia contains only free content, so we can't accept information copied from another web page. Furthermore, the artice you are writing looks a lot like advertising. Wikipedia doesn't exist for everyone's company to have an entry. Please see WP:CORP for a discussion of what kinds of companies we do cover. Also, see WP:VANITY; it's clear you are working for the company and also writing the article about them, which means you are very unlikely to cover them neutrally and with verifiable information, which is further problematic. Like I said, you should look at the link to WP:CORP. That tells you what we expect in terms of the subjects we are willing to have articles on. I was trying to get across the point that Communigate systems may not meet the WP:CORP standards, and if that's the case, we shouldn't have an article on it at all. Articles of that type are deleted all the time. If I'm wrong and Communigate systems is of some kind of importance, you have to clearly explain what that importance is, and that must be backed up by reliable, independent sources. Finally, I appreciate that you're new, so if you're not done explaining the importance of this company, you might want to put {{inuse}} at the top of the article while it's still a draft, but don't leave that there for more than a couple of days. Also, for those images you "don't want deleted," if you own the company and its copyright on the logo, you could release the logo under the GFDL. If you don't, though, you should tag it as fair use as a corporate logo by replacing the big block of text explaining that the image will be deleted with "{{logo}}". And you must refrain from edit summaries like "delete this and I will hunt you down." See WP:CIVIL. Mangojuicetalk 17:18, 22 September 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Username

Dear Daniel@communigate.com,

Welcome to Wikipedia!

Unfortunately, using your e-mail address as your username is not a good idea. Wikipedia content is extensively copied and the site itself is one of the most visited sites in the world. Any edit you make on Wikipedia will have your username attached to it, and using your email address will make you a tempting target for spammers. We recommend that you change your username at Wikipedia:Changing username in order to prevent abuse. However, if you have very few or no edits, it might just be easier to create a new account.

If you need any help, simply contact me on my talk page, or go to Wikipedia:Help desk. Another option is to place {{helpme}} on your own talk page, and someone will come shortly to help. Remember to sign your posts on talk pages with four tildes (~~~~). Again, welcome! Andrew Levine 20:13, 22 September 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Redundant image deleted

I've deleted Image:Logo CGSCorporate.gif, since it was a redundant scaled-down version of Image:Cgs logo.gif. The MediaWiki software can scale down images just fine — there's no need to upload separate scaled down copies. —Ilmari Karonen (talk) 13:22, 24 September 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Orphaned fair use image (Image:Cgs logo.gif)

Thanks for uploading Image:Cgs logo.gif. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable under fair use (see our fair use policy).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you.
