Some of the people, places or things you have written about in the article Dan MacDonald may not be sufficiently well-known to merit articles of their own. The Wikipedia community welcomes newcomers, and encourages them to become Wikipedians. On Wikipedia, each user is entitled to a user page in which they can describe themselves, and this article's content may be incorporated into that page. However, to merit inclusion in the encyclopedia proper, a subject must be notable. We encourage you to write or improve articles on notable subjects. GeorgeStepanek\talk 07:47, 24 March 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Dan MacDonald article deleted
Hi Dan. As you know by now your Dan MacDonald article has been deleted. You are welcome, of course, to keep the copy of the deleted article which you currently have on your user page just the way it is, but it can't be accepted for inclusion as a new article in the encyclopedia. You should know that Wikipedia looks very gravely at so-called "vanity pages". A vanity page is an article written by the person whom the article is about. What particularly made your article liable for deletion is notability; all topics in Wikipedia must meet certain standards of notability. As I wrote in the deletion listing, "Literally tens of thousands of aspiring artists, actors, musicians, directors, et cetera create Wikipedia pages for themselves. While all the information therein may be factual, the vast majority of self-created pages are simply not notable from an encyclopedic viewpoint. For an actor or stuntman, you're going to need several major movie credits (i.e. not student/web films, and not just as an extra) before being deemed worthy of inclusion." In other words, you need to get beyond the "aspiring" or "looking to get into the industry" stages. Please don't take it personally; all such vanity pages get deleted. Best of luck with your film career. StarryEyes 12:45, 24 March 2006 (UTC)
