[edit] Dante Danti

"Lasciate ogne speranza, voi ch'intrate" Dante

"whither leads the road? no road! into the untraveled." Goethe

"Sometimes you just have to pee in the sink." Bukowski

My formal learning as given me degrees in Linguistics and Literature (still working on my phd). However, I do most of my work in Literary and Critical theory, Hermeneutics, Semiotics, Semantics, and Philosophy of Language. In these fields, I am most familiar with the works of Umberto Eco, Richard Rorty, Jonathan Culler, Jacques Derrida, Gilles Deleuze, Paul Ricoeur and Hans-Georg Gadamer. In Literature and Fine Art, I have focused primarily on the Modern and Avant-garde movements, the bridge into Postmodernism, Postmodernism, and the movement out of Postmodernism that is taking place today. I read, but don't necessarily enjoy, Hemingway, Joyce, Miller and Eliot. I have focused on the ties between the Avant-garde and these English/ American authors. My life revolves around my own writing (fiction, non-fiction, and poetry), my academic career, church, my four cats, my fiance, and friends who all seemed to have droppped out of highschool when we were younger but with whom I hang out with on a regular basis none the less (and who seem to be more intelligent than 99% of graduate students). I've had more shitty jobs than I can count, from butcher to telemarketing. I should be teaching, but just can't bring myself to do anything but the occasional lecture. My native language is English, but I also speak Italian and some bad French.
