From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Danny McCormack is a U.K singer/ bass player born in South Shields, U.K in 1972.
He became the bass player in The Wildhearts in 1991 and soon relocated to London with the band, enjoying success during their commercial peak amidst widely reported alcohol and drug problems, mainly concerning heroin in McCormacks case, in 1998 the band finally burned out after 7 years of constant ups and downs. He went on to form and front the suitably named The Yo-Yos with Tom Spencer (ex- Sugarsnatch/ The Lurkers), the band realeased an album on Sub Pop Records but they eventually split in 2000 due to infighting between members.
He re-joined The Wildhearts when they reformed in 2001,however, the geordie bass player's drug problems came to the surface once more despite having recently attended rehab and in 2001 he was booted out of the group mid-way through a tour. He rejoined again in 2002 but left again in 2003 due to continuing drug problems. At the time the groups frontman Ginger penned an open letter to Kerrang! magazine documenting his close friend's problems and wishing him a complete recovery. Unexpectedly, he returned to The Wildhearts one final time in 2005 for a live DVD.
He briefly played with Dogs D'Amour before re-forming 'The Yo-Yos' in 2005 and recording an E.P (Given Up Giving Up) and supporting his younger brother Chris McCormack from 3 Colours Red on their final tour, they also toured Germany but the band later walked out on him half way through a U.K tour in 2005 following further drug problems. He continues to write and live in South Shields.
