Danny Lacy

Danny Lacy is an independent curator based in Melbourne, Australia. He was born in Charlton, Victoria in 1976.
In 2002 he initiated the 'Inverted Topology' project. Inverted Topology is a collaborative art project that brings together a different re-arrangement of artists each installment to create a new site specific work of art. Inverted Topology has been highly influenced by the theoretical writings on the Rhizome by Deleuze and Guattari in 'A Thousand Plateaus', the nonlinearity of 'Choose Your Own Adventure' books, and an interest in the continued dialogue of new forms of Modernism. It originated out of a desire to critique traditional curatorial and artistic modes of practice.
Inverted Topology has exhibited at Bus Gallery, Melbourne 2002; First Draft Gallery, Sydney 2003; Gertrude Contemporary Art Spaces, Melbourne 2005; Artspace, Sydney 2005 and +Plus Factors, Australian Centre for Contemporary Art (ACCA); 2006.
'New Work' is a further strain of curatorial practice developed by Danny Lacy. This ongoing series of contemporary art exhbitions aims to present new and exciting art being produced by emerging artists. New Work was exhibited at the George Paton Gallery, University of Melbourne, in August 2006 and has upcoming projects at Ocular Lab inc, West Brunswick, November 2006, and "New Work: Expanded and Compressed" at Centre for Contemporary Photography in January 2007.
