Danny Gormally

Danny Gormally, who was born in 1976, is an International Grandmaster of chess. On the June 2006 FIDE rating list he is number 283 in the world with an Elo rating of 2554. Nationally he is ranked 6th and is a member of the English team competing in the 37th Chess Olympiad. He prematurely left the Olympiad after allegedly assaulting Armenian Grandmaster Levon Aronian over the Australian Woman International Master Arianne Caoili at one of the evening social events. [1]

He is a former member of Charlton Chess Club and currently plays for Wood Green.

In November 2006 Gormally was joint winner of the British Rapidplay Chess Championship.
