[edit] Character information

Danny first appeared in 2004, having recently broken up with his wife Frankie. He joined his "uncle" Mike in running the Underworld factory and started a relationship with Sunita. However, Frankie tracked him down and they got back together. It was revealed that Frankie had cheated on Danny as revenge for Danny's numerous affairs. Danny's son Jamie (by his first marriage) also arrived in Weatherfield, and Danny had to pay a substantial amount of money to save Jamie from a prison sentence for beating up the man Frankie had been having an affair with.

The man that Danny had long believed to be his father died, only for mother Viv to reveal to Danny's "uncle" Mike that he is in fact Danny's biological father.

Danny then had another affair, this time with his son's girlfriend Leanne Battersby, which was exposed in October 2005 by an overlooked phone message. Frankie broke up with him, and Jamie disowned him. A couple of weeks later, Mike was revealed to be Danny's father, not his uncle. As Mike began to deteriorate with Alzheimer's, Danny started plotting to ensure that he got as much of Mike's will as possible, finally inheriting all of his fathers business as well as his other assets and cash, leaving his half-brother Adam with much less.

Danny begged Frankie not to go through with their divorce and to take him back. Frankie refused and the divorce went ahead. He was further heartbroken when she moved her new boyfriend into their former marital home. After arguing with Jamie, Danny accidentally proposed to Leanne, although he had no intention of marrying her and didn't love her.

After Frankie split with Nathan, Danny saw another chance to get back with Frankie, finishing with Leanne to show her how serious he was. However, this backfired on him as Leanne had a photocopy of Mikes most recent will (leaving everything to Adam), which she blackmailed Danny with for £50,000. After pleading to take her back, Danny refused and Leanne gave the will to Adam, who took legal advice to get what he was entitled to. Danny offered him various amounts of money for the share, until finally agreeing on giving Adam 40 per cent share. Adam quickly sold his part of the factory to the Connor brother's for £80,000 in Summer 2006.

In October 2006 his ex-wife Frankie returned to the flat to Danny, having heard from step son Jamie of his love for her. But by November she realised that there may be a chance of love with Jamie and began an affair with him. Frankie and Jamie were caught in bed together by Danny at the flat. A day later Danny and Jamie ended up fighting over the situation, with Danny almost killing Jamie in the water outside the flat.

Danny and Jamie's emotional journey reached a climax as Danny threatened to jump to his death from a local bridge, though he said he wouldn't if Jamie gave up Frankie. Danny finally gave in, and signing everything over to Jamie he disappeared into the night, meaning a possible return in the future.

He has nicknames for all of the Underworld workers:

Danny has proven to be a very popular character. In an interview with Chris Evans on OFI Sunday on 11 December 2005, Bradley Walsh revealed that the character was originally to have been called Vic Baldwin, but that he asked the producers if the name could be changed to that of his own father, who had recently died.

[edit] Departure

In June 2006 it was revealed that Bradley Walsh was leaving Coronation Street in order to launch his own weekday chatshow, rivaling The Paul O'Grady Show[1]. The character was written out of the show as a Christmas special storyline, although Bradley has said he would like to return one day.

After discovering Jamie and Frankie's affair, Danny took Jamie to the top of a viaduct and threatened to commit suicide. Jamie told him he forgave him for his affair with Leanne. Danny told Jamie he loved him and to take his keys for the factory and his car and leave. Danny disappeared into the night. On 18 December 2006, the police revealed that they had pulled a body from the canal, but when Frankie went in to identify it, it turned out not to be Danny.

Danny's last appearance in Coronation Street was on New Years Eve 2006. Danny rang Jamie revealing that he had sold the flat. At the time Danny was at a New Years Party surrounded by a bevy of beautiful women.

[edit] Danny's return

On Sunday 25 February 2007, it was announced that Danny would be returning later on in the year following the death of factory boss Paul Connor. [2]
