The Danish Folketing election of 1945 was held on 23 March 1943, except on the Faroe Islands where the election was held on 3 May. It was the first election during the German occupation, and although many people feared how the Germans might reaction to the election, the event took place peacefully.[1] The voter turnout was at 89.5% the highest of any Danish parliamentary election, and along with the Landsting election of the same year the election turned out as a demonstration against the occupation. After the elections, leading German newspapers expressed disappointment and indignation of the lack of political evolution among the Danish voters.[1]
