Daniel L. Akin

Daniel L. Akin (born January 2, 1957) is the current president of Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary as of January 2004. Dr. Akin has authored numerous books and journal articles.

He is a 1980 graduate of Criswell College with a B.A. in Biblical Studies, a 1983 graduate of Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary with a Master of Divinity, and a 1989 graduate of the University of Texas at Arlington with a Doctor of Philosophy in Humanities.

Akin is married to Charlotte, and they have four boys: Daniel, Jonathan, Paul, and Timothy.

On June 30, 2006, Akin authored a piece in the Baptist Press where he outlined his reasons why Christians should not drink alcohol.[1] (Compare Christianity and alcohol.)
