Danielle 'Dani' Sutherland was a fictional character in the Australian soap opera Home and Away, portrayed from 2000 to 2004 by actress Tammin Sursok.
[edit] Character
Dani moved to Summer Bay in early 2000 with her parents, Rhys (Michael Beckley) and Shelley (Paula Forrest), and her sisters, Kirsty (Christie Hayes) and Jade (Kate Garven).
Dani was a rebellious teenager who constantly gave Rhys and Shelley reason to worry about her. This changed in 2001 when she was raped by Kane Phillips (Sam Atwell). This ordeal caused Dani to mature a lot. She was devastated in 2002 when her sister Kirsty fell in love, and ran away, with Kane, after Shelley, Kirsty and Kane had been stranded on an island together following a ferry disaster. Kane, whose personality had changed drastically after he fell in love with Kirsty, realized that she belonged with her family, and staged a break-up with her, leaving her devastated. Kane returned to Summer Bay a year later and reunited with (and married) Kirsty, much to Dani's anger. In time, Dani forgave, and eventually became friends with, Kane.
Dani was in relationships with Josh West (Daniel Collopy) and most notably Scott Hunter (Kip Gamblin), who first made an impression on her when, in early 2003, he literally rode into Summer Bay on a white horse. They remained together for most of 2003 and 2004, before Dani gave up on Scott and moved to Sydney to become a novelist.
