Dandelion Radio

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Dandelion Radio is an independent, self-funded internet radio station inspired by the much loved and much missed British DJ John Peel. The station is named after the record label run by Peel between 1969 and 1972.

Dandelion Radio is run, and its shows presented, by ex-listeners of John Peel's shows on an entirely voluntary basis. After successful applications for the appropriate internet broadcasting licences, they started broadcasting in June 2006 and currently renew their broadcasts on the 1st of each calendar month.

Attempting to do their own bit to follow John Peel's legacy, Dandelion Radio champions and exposes new music from all around the world and aims at providing its listeners with music that is exciting, challenging, original and uncompromising.

During November 2006, Dandelion Radio were asked to take over the Festive Fifty from BBC Radio 1, its home since John Peel set it up in 1976.
