Dan Williams

Dan Williams (born on September 3, 1966 in San Gabrielle, California) is a former professional baseball player and the current bullpen catcher for the Cleveland Indians. He graduated from Corvallis High School. He has been involved with the Indians for the last 11 years. During his playing days, Williams batted and threw right handed. He weighs 245 pounds and is 6 feet, 3 inches.

Williams attended Corvallis High School in Corvallis, Oregon and starred in football and baseball.

Attended and played for Western Oregon State University from 1987-1988.

[edit] Professional Career

Williams was drafted by the Indians in the 37th round in the 1988 draft and assigned to Burlington of the short season Appalachian League. Besides catching, Williams also appeared at first base and the outfield. Williams then spent the 1989 season with short season Watertown of the Class A New York-Penn League. He then spent last full season in minors at Class A Kinston of the Carolina League. Williams finished up his playing career in 1991, appearing in just 6 games for Kinston before signing on as a full-time coach.

Williams was named to the Cleveland Indians coaching staff during the shortened spring training of 1995 after spending time as a coach in the minors. His duties include catching starting and relief pitchers in the bullpen, throwing batting practice and hitting fungoes.

Resides in Cleveland, Ohio with wife Christine and their three children.
