Daniel Dean Warthen (born December 1, 1952, in Omaha, Nebraska) is a former Major League Baseball left-handed pitcher.

Warthen attended high school in Omaha, Nebraska and was a letterman in football and baseball. In football, he was a All-American selection.

[edit] Major League Baseball Career

Warthen was drafted by the Montreal Expos in the 2nd round of the 1971 Major League Baseball amateur draft. Warthen would make his Major League Baseball debut with the Montreal Expos on May 18, 1975, and would appear in his final game on September 29, 1978. Warthen finished his Major League Career with a 12 win-21 loss record and a 4.31 E.R.A.

As of the 2006 season, Warthen is the bullpen coach for the Los Angeles Dodgers under manager Grady Little. He wears jersey number 48.
