Dan Mathews is the vice-president of PETA and known for heading PETA's most controversial and attention-getting campaigns, including the "I'd Rather Go Naked Than Wear Fur" ads, as well as campaigns involving celebrities such as Gary Glitter, Pamela Anderson, Pink, and Paul McCartney. He began his career with PETA as a receptionist, and worked his way up.
Mathews was born October 25, 1964, in Newport Beach, California, and attended Costa Mesa High School in Costa Mesa, California, where he was known as a punk rocker. He has two brothers. In his teens, he worked at Disneyland and McDonalds, and as a young adult he worked as a model and actor. Mathews has been arrested countless times all over the world in his efforts to protect the rights of animals and create public awareness. As a consequence, he is often in the news.
In 2000, he was named by Genre magazine as one of the most influential people of the new century.[1] But when asked by the magazine who he considered influential, he joked, spree killer “Andrew Cunanan, because he got Gianni Versace to stop using fur,” a quip for which he was widely criticized. [2][3] [4])
Critical of late conservationist and television personality "Crocodile Hunter" Steve Irwin, he stated that "[Irwin] made a career out of antagonizing frightened wild animals, which is a very dangerous message to send to kids," adding, "If you compare him with a responsible conservationist like Jacques Cousteau, he looks like a cheap reality TV star." He also stated he was gay.[1]
He saya steve irwin deserved the treatmnet which steve got from the stingray, it;'s dangerous to teah our children this, then its more dangerous to make a person like you who is GAY to be vice president of PETA, u might find a male moneky and have sex wirh him!! u show no class what so ever!
