From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Dan Evans is an American Major League Baseball executive.

Evans (born 27 January 1960 in Chicago, Illinois)has been in baseball his whole career, starting out by working small jobs with the Chicago White Sox while still in college. He worked his way to the top, eventually getting promoted to Assistant General Manager. After almost 20 years, Evans quit for reasons unknown, but within a few months, he landed a job under Bob Daly. In October of 2000, Evans moved from Illinois to California to work with the Los Angeles Dodgers. After Kevin Malone was fired, Evans took over his spot as general manager. During his time with the Los Angeles Dodgers, Evans took on many volunteer projects and created a stir after hiring longtime friend and former Yankee Assistant Manager Kim Ng, a pioneer move for females in baseball. When Frank McCourt bought the team, Evans was fired despite having successfully revamped the Dodgers' farm system, bringing the team from last place all the way up to first. Evans now works for the Seattle Mariners as an Executive Scout and lives in La Canada Flintridge, California with his wife, Susan, and his daughters, Sarah and Andrea.
