[edit] Personal Life and Background
Dan is an active and energetic character who views the world in black and white - good versus bad. Although he had not done his probation at Sun Hill he was transferred to this station rather quickly after his request for a transfer away from Spicer Street. A conflict of interests with his superior officer meant that the transfer went through without much difficulty.
Prior to joining the police, Dan was a ticket inspector on the London Underground.
Dan's best friend at Sun Hill is PC Will Fletcher, whom he is regularly paired with on police duties.
[edit] Outside Work and Recent Storylines
Earlier this year Inspector Gina Gold forced both him and Will to take part in a boxing competition between Sunhill and other stations. Although Will already boxed in his spare time, Dan was nervous because it was something he hadn't done before and he didn't think he could do it. When Will injured his hand and was unable to compete, Dan faced the ring on his own and "The Sunhill Hurricane" surprised himself by winning.
However, as he progressed in the tournament his nerves grew and after injuring his shoulder he persuaded Ewan, a friend of Will's and fellow boxer to help him purchase some steroids. As Dan faced more and more matches he began to rely on the steroids more as well. Even when Will found out and tried to convince him to stop, he continued until he completely lost it in one of his matches and knocked his opponent unconscious. Although it was revealed that the other man had a heart condition and shouldn't have been boxing, Dan felt guilty and told the inspector about the steroids. She ordered him to withdraw from the tournament and told him that he wasn't fit for active duty whilst using the drugs.
[edit] Training
Dan did his training at Hendon, like all other trainee officers in the area. Here he also did an advanced driving course which he excelled in. After completing his training he served his two years probation at Spicer Street (which is relatively close to Sun Hill).
