[edit] Welcome!
Welcome to Wikipedia! I hope you enjoy the encyclopaedia and want to stay. Before getting too in-depth, you may want to read about the simplified ruleset. If you need help on how to title new articles check out the naming conventions, and for help on formatting the pages visit the manual of style. If you need help look at Wikipedia:Help and the FAQ; plus, if you can't find your answer there, check the Village Pump (for Wikipedia related questions) or the Reference Desk (for general questions). There's still more help at the Tutorial and Policy Library. Also, don't forget to visit the Community Portal. And if you have any more questions after that, feel free to post them on my user talk page.
[edit] Additional tips
Here are some extra tips to help you get around in Wikipedia:
- If you want to play around with your new Wiki skills the Sandbox is for you.
- You can sign your name using three tildes (~). If you use four, you can add a datestamp too.
- You may want to add yourself to the new user log.
- If you ever think a page or image should be deleted, please list it at the votes for deletion page. There is also a votes for undeletion page if you want to retrieve something that you think should not have been deleted.
- If you're still entirely confused, or would like to get a better grasp of your wikipedia skills, and you have an IRC client (or don't mind getting one), check out the Bootcamp. It's not what it sounds like, but it is fun and can help you with your editing skills.

A tag has been placed on Kang Yau Chuang, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the article seems to be about a person, group of people, band, club, company, or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable, that is, why an article about that subject should be included in Wikipedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not assert notability may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, and if you can indicate why the subject of this article is notable, you may contest the tagging. To do this, add {{hangon}}
on the top of the page and leave a note on the article's talk page explaining your position. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm its subject's notability under the guidelines.
For guidelines on specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for bands, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Chris 73 | Talk 15:15, 13 January 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Unspecified source for Image:KangYauChuang.JPG
Thanks for uploading Image:KangYauChuang.JPG. I notice the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you have not created this file yourself, then you need to specify who owns the copyright, please. If you got it from a website, then a link to the website where it was taken from with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher then their copyright should also be acknowledged.
As well as the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{fairusein|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 10:30, 14 January 2007 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. feydey 10:30, 14 January 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Spam suspicions → WP:AGF → "Great stuff!" → Welcome → Thanks (+ a suggestion)
Hi. I'm a volunteer with WikiProject Spam. I've learned to watch the List of Malaysian companies page for new companies; 70% of the time, new listings are to spam articles/advertisements from folks that also add linkspam elsewhere. It's one of several "tripwire" articles I watch -- an odd assortment that also includes disparate topics such as Vehicle insurance and LAN gaming center.
So I saw your new listings today and decided to check out what else you'd added. Fortunately, one of our strongest rules is "Assume Good faith" -- and your work is a case study of why we have such a rule.
You're certainly not adding linkspam!
You've done some good stuff in your short time with Wikipedia and the images are a great addition (I'm assuming the copyrights are OK -- I'm weak on the technicalities of our rules). Malaysia is a hotbed for some of the world's most exciting architecture.
I stuck a standard welcome message above mainly because you may find some of the links helpful, especially the stuff in the first paragraph. You may also want to check out Portal:Malaysia
As for the companies you added, you should probably add articles for them; we don't like "red links" on lists like that. Please make sure any articles clearly note from the beginning the company's "notability" in accordance with:
- Notability Guideline for all articles (skim) -- is the subject of the article important enough to go in the encyclopedia
- Notability Guideline for Organizations and Companies -- a specialized subset of the above. The short "Primary criterion" section is worth reading closely)
- Neutral Point of View Policy (skim) -- it shouldn't read like a PR piece at all
- Verifiability|Verifiability Policy (skim) -- there should be at least one reference verifying notability
- Reliable Sources Guideline (read) -- such a reference should not be "self-published" but instead come from something like a newspaper.
I don't want to seem rule-obsessed -- it's just that we get dozens of spammy articles per hour that we have volunteers that are constantly watching our new pages list for bad articles and some are quick on the deletion trigger. A two-sentence "stub" is fine to start with -- just include a link of some sort verifying notability. It also helps to establish the financial magnitude of the company and whether it's listed on a major exchange.
The irony is that we lack articles on probably half the world's companies with sales >$1000 million, yet we get all these articles for little "Mom and Pop" tiny businesses.
If I can help you in any way, please let me know.
I very much appreciate your work here and I know others will, too.
Again, welcome. --A. B. (talk) 17:24, 28 February 2007 (UTC)
