Welcome to Wikipedia!

Hello, Daltnpapi4u, I'm Kafziel. I noticed you were new, or at least that nobody has officially welcomed you yet, so let me be the first to say hello, give you some tips, and share a few useful links.

Here are some links you might find helpful:

I know they're a little boring (okay... a lot boring) but they may come in handy someday.

I give every newcomer two tips for adding content: cite references whenever possible, and try to set aside any personal points of view. Aside from that, just be patient and receptive, ask questions whenever you need to, and have a good time. If you want to experiment with coding or see how articles will look before you post them, you can use your own private sandbox at User:Daltnpapi4u/sandbox for any tests you want to do. (The link will turn blue after you start the page.)

Now that you have your own user name, you can sign your comments on talk pages by typing four tildes (~~~~). This will automatically stamp your user name, the time, and the date. That will help other users reply to your posts. You may also want to fill out your user page to tell others a bit about yourself.

I hope this information is useful to you, and I'm looking forward to seeing your contributions. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me for help. Good luck, and happy editing! Kafziel Talk 21:19, 28 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Foreign consulates

I have reverted your addition of listings of foreign consulates to the Atlanta, Georgia and Miami, Florida articles. For one, foreign consulates have absolutely nothing to do with sister cities programs. Foreign consulates are the domain of the state departments of the respective governments involved. Sister cities programs, while generally supported by city governments, are non-profit organizations and not controlled by the national government of either country. Adding listings of foreign consulates to the sister cities section is misleading.

The list is also a bit long, and really unreferenced. If it is to be added to the article, it should be added to either a separate section, but actually, more appropriately, a new child article, like 'List of foreign consulates in Atlanta' and linked under the 'see also' section. You also need to provide a reference for the list of foreign consulates as adding that much unsourced information is generally frowned upon. Dr. Cash 05:40, 8 December 2006 (UTC)

Oops! Sorry, my bad! I missed your reference to it. That reference should be fine. I still think, however, that it should not go back into the sister cities section, as it is still unrelated. City articles tend to get a bit long, and generally lists such as this are better served by putting it into a child article, as stated above, and linked via 'see also'. You could put a 'see also' link at the end of the Economy section, since foreign consulates are commonly associated with business. A link might also be appropriate at the end of the 'government' section as well. Dr. Cash 17:57, 8 December 2006 (UTC)
Looks good! I made one minor change to the pages, moving the reference from 'external links' to 'references' and using the WP:CITE format. This would be better; the external links section is really not necessary and is probably just going to attract link spammers. Dr. Cash 18:14, 8 December 2006 (UTC)
