Dallas Bay Skypark

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Dallas Bay Skypark began life as the Optimist Club Drag Strip back in the late 50s and survived until the early 60s. The dragstrip was moved to East Ridge, TN and John Flewellyn and his family bought the old dragstrip and turned it into a private runway. In the early 70s the airstrip became an FAA certified public airport with the designation 1A0.

In 2002, a group or investors, all with a passion for flying, bought Dallas Bay Skypark and have been running it ever since.

[edit] Dallas Bay Skypark Today

In 2002, a group of investors, all with a passion for flying, bought Dallas Bay Skypark and have been running it ever since.

To this day the airport is still a full-service public airport with a flight school on premises. The flight school at Dallas Bay currently has 4 aircraft for rent including 2 Cessna 172s, 1 Cessna 152, and 1 Piper Arrow and 3 instructors for flight training.

The FBO at Dallas Bay is older, but very comfortable. Virtually anyone with a passion for flying or a desire to begin flight training can stop by and talk with any number of employees, students or pilots. Hangar flying is a daily occurrence at the FBO.
