Dalecarlia Tunnel
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Dalecarlia Tunnel is a railway tunnel that carried the Georgetown Branch of the B&O railroad underneath MacArthur Boulevard and the Washington Aqueduct. Built in 1910, it is a Roman arch brick tunnel, 18 feet wide by 340 feet long. Featuring decorative brick facings on both ends, it is now used as part of the Capital Crescent Trail. Though the railroad no longer travels through the tunnel, the Dalecarlia Tunnel has never been closed.
