[edit] About BaboViolent 2's Wiki deletion...

I just wanted to ask why BaboViolent 2's Wiki was deleted. I thought it was because someone who hated it changed the Wiki around to display inappropriate content, but I just felt like I should ask. I was just wondering if you could switch something on the wiki to only allow the developers (Daivuk and dZb, for future references) to edit it.

Thanks for taking the time to read this.

–– Zakiller2000 00:42, 4 January 2007 (UTC)

Hello. It was deleted previously through through Afd. It had notability issues with two forums and a chatroom only for references. It had only 89 googles mostly forums and did not meet WP:SOFTWARE. There is no way to restrict editing to allow only two people to edit any article. That would be discouraged anyway per WP:AUTO. Articles can be protected from new and unregistered users but not just for specific users to edit.--Dakota 02:05, 4 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Red rain in Kerala

Hi, I've just reverted the red rain in Kerala page which had been disfigured by an anonymous edit by: 67.46.0.13 (who I note was blocked not long ago). Being fairly new to Wikipedia I'm not sure what else to do. There isn't much doubt in my mind that the changes were vandalism.

By the way, on my first attempt to undo the apparent vandalism, as soon as I clicked on 'undo' on the version comparison page, my dial-up connection dropped. This could, of course, be coincidence and nothing much to do with anything; but there are some very strange people out there. When I logged on again the note of changes to 'red rain in Kerala' on my watchlist had disappeared. Davy p 20:17, 12 January 2007 (UTC)

Hello. I'd say the revert was right. That ip history shows repeat vandalism. If you click on "watch" an article you should see all changes to it come up.--Dakota 21:13, 12 January 2007 (UTC)

Thanks. Though details of both the assumed vandalism and my revert appear on the 'red rain in Kerala' history, on my watchlist only the revert now shows. The reference to assumed vandalism is now gone, though it was there earlier (that's how I came to notice in the first place). Maybe this is just a quirk of the system.

Presumably it would be a good idea to set up an alternative user name before tackling other apparent vandalism on the History of Christianity page by the same user? Davy p 22:27, 12 January 2007 (UTC)

History of Christianity is not currently on my watchlist nor do I edit it as I am unfamiliar with Christianity, but any editor can revert vandalism to it or other articles and it is encouraged. I would not recommend an alternate username though.--Dakota 00:27, 13 January 2007 (UTC)

Issue of the Month

The question of capitalising of the letter "t" in The of The Beatles has been raised again. It appears that UK style references (here and here) also maintains that the letter should be in lower case. If the Project is to be appear professional then it may have to change the format. Polite discussion is invited at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject The Beatles/Policy. If possible, please provide sources/references to support your position.

[edit] Wilcox-McCandlish law

Hi, a request was made at WP:RFP to delete this page which contained the {{deletedpage}} template. (See [1] for the request and my reply.) I took a look and it looks like it had actually been unprotected for over a month and nobody had tried to recreate the article at that time. I went ahead and deleted it as requested, but I wanted to leave you a note letting you know I had done so. Please review this action and feel free to reverse it or take any other steps you feel are appropriate. You are obviously more familiar with the situation than I. Thank you. --BigDT 13:17, 16 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] WP:U

Hey mate, non-latin usernames are now allowed (to allow for single login introduction) - Just an FYI :)  Glen  03:25, 21 January 2007 (UTC)

This particular username was questionable note the exclamation point. I left create account open and have had no email from the user. I shall not worry about non latin usernames again:)--Dakota 08:29, 21 January 2007 (UTC) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User_talk:%E5%8F%AF%E6%84%9B%E3%81%84%E8%8B%BA%E3%81%A1%E3%82%83%E3%82%93%21

[edit] Can't remember username/pwd

Hi On Nov. 2005 you sent me a welcome while editing without an account (then 201.145.6.147) Afterwards I created an account for future edits. I have not edited since and am trying to log back in, however I can't recall what my username was. There also seems to be nowhere on the site, an explination as to how to do this, which seems like a rather poor slip, considering Wiki's standing on Sock puppetry. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 189.157.143.64 (talk) 23:17, 23 January 2007 (UTC).

You would need to remember the username if you can't maybe you can remember which articles you edited and then search the history and you might find your registered username.--Dakota 23:03, 24 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] action was delete, not not delete

I was puzzled to see Michael Tornambe redlinked when you had written "delete fails" [2] but I see you misspoke and did delete it. You might want to edit your comment. Andyvphil 08:33, 29 January 2007 (UTC)

The result was delete, fails WP:BIO. Dakota 00:33, 26 January 2007 (UTC). Perhaps a comma will help explain.--Dakota 23:53, 29 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Chaser page

Just wondering why the edits on the Chaser page were reverted. I am new to Wiki so perhaps I did something wrong. Can you please let me know as I was just trying to help by making some of the content more accurate and adding some valuable information. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 60.241.130.8 (talk) 00:26, 30 January 2007 (UTC).

It looked like jiberish but I see it isn't (not an engine expert me).--Dakota 00:29, 30 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] problem with vandalism warnings?

Hi. I warned IP 70.224.43.151 with the new uw warnings, which apparently put his/her talk page on my watchlist. I noticed you replaced my warning with test2. I was under the impression that 1) the test warnings need to be substituted, and 2) the test warnings were now obsolete. Is this incorrect? Natalie 01:43, 9 February 2007 (UTC)

Unless there is something I am not seeing both our warnings are there. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User_talk:70.224.43.151 Maybe it did not load properly. My warnings are from tabs a script in my monobook.--Dakota 01:47, 9 February 2007 (UTC)

Must not have loaded properly - now they are both there. Ah well. Thank you for your timely response. Natalie 01:54, 9 February 2007 (UTC)

[edit] The Man of Steel(film)

When I tried to move Superman: The Man of Steel(film) to Superman: The Man of Steel (film), I discovered why the space was put in. I assume you have the rights and authority to delete the new incarnation? I'll drop it from the dab page that got me into this in the first place. (John User:Jwy talk) 23:17, 13 February 2007 (UTC)

It's been deleted 2 times and again recreated. Probably need to go through Afd.--Dakota 04:28, 14 February 2007 (UTC)

[edit] VegaDark's Request for Adminship

DakotaKahn/Archive27

Thank you for supporting my RfA. It was successful at a unanimous 52/0/0. I hope I can live up to the kind words expressed of me there, and hope to now be more of an asset to the community with access to the tools. Please feel free to leave a message on my talk page if you have any suggestions for me in the future. Thanks again! VegaDark 07:16, 16 February 2007 (UTC)

[edit] User "Neigma" is back vandalizing

I'm not aware that there is any kind of "grace period" for vandals, so as per your warning on 9 April 2006, User:Neigma should be blocked. Jinxmchue 18:54, 16 February 2007 (UTC)

User has not vandalized in several hours. The last warning was nearly one year ago. Please warn vandals to last warning then they should be listed at WP:AIV. I have put it on my watch list also.--Dakota 23:48, 16 February 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Didn't change anything

I don't know why the IP address was duplicated, but I did not remove a Wikipedia page. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 161.130.234.147 (talk) 18:55, 20 February 2007 (UTC).

Yours is a university shared IP with multiple users. If you register you will not see warnings about other users. You will have a user page, talk page, watchlist and other pages not available to unregistered users.--Dakota 21:42, 20 February 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Philippe-Marie van de Werve

It's been a month since anyone did anything to it (apart from add anothe template!), and the originator hasn't edited since the day they started the article; it's a speedy for little or no context (not to mention content). It's probably also an A3 speedy. 86.148.127.202 00:58, 21 February 2007 (UTC)

Hello, you are right about it. Let's hold just a little and I will contact the author and see if he/she plans to expand but it looks like they have done others.--Dakota 02:39, 21 February 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Tempe Butte / A Mountain

When's the last time anyone actually saw any javelina on that mountain? These days, it's entirely isolated from other desert habitat by Arizona State University to the south and east, and Tempe Town Lake to the north. I'll leave it for now, but I think it's pretty doubtful that anything larger than a jackrabbit (or the occasional U of A student trying to paint over the A) would be spotted up there these days, as far as mammals are concerned. -- Miwa * talk * contribs ^_^ 10:01, 26 February 2007 (UTC)

I Live in the Phoenix area. I removed it until I can resource it. --– Dakota 17:22, 26 February 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Revert

I wasn't sure about it, but noticing how ceasing apparently equaled making things worse, I did anyway :). I just got it as I moved through all those edits that added whitespace, which could make the page a bit less uniform to edit. Plus, it is good for editcountitis. Prodego talk 00:06, 28 February 2007 (UTC)

Yes, good for editcountitis. All of it's contribs look to have been reverted which should fix the uniformity issue. I removed it's rather humorous comment on the user page for vandalism. Thanks again :)--– Dakota 00:15, 28 February 2007 (UTC)

User talk:204.14.12.86 is at it again, putting vandalism in the Food science article which I have reverted. I see that this user was blocked earlier, but I think this may need to be extended. Thanks. Chris 14:42, 2 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] page deletion

Hi. I'm sort of new but I don't understand why my page d2jsp was deleted.

Me and my colleague worked hard on it, I don't understand what you mean by "lacks notability" TruthApplies 20:27, 3 March 2007 (UTC)

That was five months ago. Evidently I must be missing your particular contribs to it but you must be referring to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/D2jsp which I closed on 29 October 2006. It did not seem to meet the concerns of WP:WEB, Wikipedia:Notability (software). It was again deleted 3 March 2007 as a recreation ((db-repost)) by another admin.--– Dakota 17:26, 3 March 2007 (UTC)

Sorry for not signing, but me and my colleague, Taekvideo, were unaware a page was put up for d2jsp, we made the wiki because the subject was gaining notoriety and we wanted to inform people who asked repeatedly about it. Is there anyway I can appeal to put it back up? TruthApplies 20:27, 3 March 2007 (UTC)

That's alright we all forget sometimes. I forgot to mention that you might need to read WP:COI. You could take it to Wikipedia:Deletion review . --– Dakota 03:43, 4 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] chemical Reactions

what happenes to a peice of paper when it gets burnt? is this a chemical change or a physical change?" —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Gabbyd (talkcontribs).

I am not a chemist but my best guess it is a combination of both. You might best take this question to the Science reference desk. Happy editing. -- – Dakota 01:57, 7 March 2007 (UTC)
Chemical! It's not a change of physical state, since the fibres are solid aren't turned into gas, unless you include the oxygen needed in the reaction, or the resultant carbon dioxide...or carbon monoxide. Blnguyen (bananabucket) 02:02, 7 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Fred Shapiro

Hey I tried typing the below information in the talk page for the one article I created but it kept coming up error. It was for the talk page of the article "Fred Shapiro" I simply pasted below the same information I was trying to submit.

This article is simply for historical reference. This fraud was the biggest in Philadelphia history, there are plently of Philadelphia Inquirer articles and other clippings available regarding the topic. The article contains no links to any personal or advertising avenues. It is simply historically relevant for this person to be noted along side other now infamous white collar criminals like the enron/worldcom guys. And there is a ton more information on those people.

Eroc718 03:05, 11 March 2007 (UTC) Eric

Hello, I don't know why it would not paste into the talkpage and suggest you try it again. I replaced the speedy tag because it should stay on even after the hangon is pLace. Try to assert more notability. Include any relavant non trivial links for references.-- Dakota 03:10, 11 March 2007 (UTC)
