Just wanted to drop in and thank you for taking the time to respond to my RfA. I appreciate the comments. .:.Jareth.:. babelfish 16:29, 15 November 2005 (UTC)
[edit] RfC 69.253.195.228
Hi. I recently attested to the obnoxious actions undertaken by an anonymous user from this ip address. I saw that you endorsed an "outside view" on the RfC. The contested article has been demonized considerably by its detractors. Regardless of what you feel about the article, the issue at hand is the user's behaviour. The anonymous user has demonstratably violated the rules of wikipedia and acted in bad faith several times and has been banned several times. Do you feel that these repeated violations are acceptable? I don't think you do, and if you don't then I encourage you to reconsider the stance you are taking. Thanks Ryan Utt
- Hi Dakota, I would urge some caution in dealing with the above. Formerly Clarence Thomas (talk • contribs), he has done little else but try to cause trouble for the anon user, and seems to have some kind of personal vendetta against him: I suspect something outside Wikipedia. Cheers, SlimVirgin (talk) 02:16, 19 November 2005 (UTC)
-
- The record is clear that I've been patient with the anonymous user. SlimVirgin has relayed several unfair accusations against me and is incapable of justifying any of them. Ryan Utt
[edit] Thanks
Thanks for supporting me for adminship. The RfA passed today. I look forward to working with you to make Wikipedia a better place. --Nlu 05:29, 19 November 2005 (UTC)
[edit] Re: You were right
Hi Dakota, by all means tell him to desist, but it might be best to ignore. You do realize that you endorsed this individual's "side"? If you do, that's fine, no worries. In your shoes, I'd sit back and let the rest of us get on with the fighting, although of course if you're bored, you're welcome to join in. ;-D SlimVirgin (talk) 10:16, 19 November 2005 (UTC)
[edit] your recent RfC vote
I noticed that you crosses out your signature with a comment about the article looking encyclopedic now. I'm not sure I get this, since the RfC was a user conduct dispute, not a content dispute. It was specifically about the disputed edits listed under the complaint. Vote (or abstain) however you like, but am I missing something? Dsol 01:22, 20 November 2005 (UTC)
- Sorry to bother you with this again, but Dsol has no right to tell people what they should write. An RfC allows any comment that editors feel is relevant. SlimVirgin (talk) 02:35, 20 November 2005 (UTC)
-
- Dakota, I don't think my coment would seem like in any way telling you how to write, but if it does let me just emphasize again: vote however you like, and write whatever you feel is relevant to the RfC. Dsol 17:37, 20 November 2005 (UTC)
[edit] Denney/Denny
Hi Dakota, I've moved that to Denny for you. I think you can do it yourself using the "move" tab at the top of the page, but if you ever need me to do it again for you, don't hesitate to ask. ;-) SlimVirgin (talk) 00:38, 21 November 2005 (UTC)
- Nice article, by the way. SlimVirgin (talk) 00:40, 21 November 2005 (UTC)
[edit] Thank you!
Hi DakotaKahn,
Thank you very much for your support on my RfA. I was both surprised and delighted about the amount of support votes and all the kind words! If I can ever help with anything or if you have any comments about my actions as an admin, please let me know! Regards, JoanneB 14:44, 21 November 2005 (UTC)[edit] GraemeL's RFA
Hi DakotaKahn,
I am now an administrator and would like to thank you for your support on my RfA. I was very surprised at the number of votes and amount of and kind comments that I gathered. Put the message here as per your request on your talk page. Good luck. Thanks.--Dakota t e 16:55, 21 November 2005 (UTC)
[edit] Ianblair23's RfA
G'day Kahn,
I would like to thank you for supporting me on my RfA. It closed with the final tally of 57/0/0. I can only hope I can live up to the expectations that this wonderful community of ours demands from each of its administrators. If you ever need anything, please just let me know. Cheers! -- Ianblair23 (talk) 03:41, 22 November 2005 (UTC)[edit] Sean Black RfA
Thank you very much for your support of my RfA. Thanks, in part, to you, I am now an Administrator, and I pledge to use my newfound powers for good rather than evil. Thanks again!--Sean|Black 08:24, 26 November 2005 (UTC)
[edit] Talk archives
Hello, DakotaKahn! I saw that your talk page archives are in the Talk: namespace, where article talk pages are also located. Would you mind moving those archives to the User talk: namespace? (For example, you would type in "User talk:DakotaKahn/Archive01" when you are prompted to enter where you want to move the archive.) I was going to do it myself, but I figured I'd let you know about it so you wouldn't be surprised to find them sudddenly moved. Thanks! Robert T | @ | C 02:15, 27 November 2005 (UTC)
- Yep, you moved them right, thanks again. Regarding your question about closing, do you mean closing AFD debates? If so, you can read up on Wikipedia:Deletion process. Just make sure you only close debates that are clear keep ones; only an admin can close ones that are delete or no consensus. (If that wasn't what you meant, just leave me another message about it.) Robert T | @ | C 04:59, 27 November 2005 (UTC)
-
- Oh, close failed RfA's? Like the ones in Wikipedia:Unsuccessful adminship candidacies? I'm not too sure about that one. I assumed just the bureaucrats do that, but as for ones that are a year old, I don't really know. I don't even think RfA's were actually "closed" much in practice a few months ago -- I know now that successful or failed RfA's are tagged as such when they end, but that wasn't the case before.
-
- Anyway, I don't think it's necessary to close old RfA's, as the ending times on them indicate that they had already ended, and users can infer from the ending time that they shouldn't edit the failed RfA further. If you want to ask someone else about it, though, you can go ahead and do that as well. Sorry I'm not 100% sure about the answer to your question. Robert T | @ | C 05:49, 27 November 2005 (UTC)
[edit] Message from Rachel Cakes
Hi Dakota,
thanks for getting back to me. I forgot about that message I wrote anyway :) Thanks for compliments on the Golden Ticket page- but lots of other people update it too, so it's not all my work, heh.
Yes I had a good wikibreak- thanks for noticing. I went from chilly Adelaide to the sunny Gold Coast and went to all the theme parks there. Warner Bros. Movie World was my favourite. I even went to the Willy Wonka store and looked at a framed replica Golden Ticket on the wall- it was too expensive, for me to buy however. Pretty neat! Bye for now. :)

[edit] New in the Welcome Wagon
I'm relatively new @ this sort of thing. Told the new Wikipedian that he or she is in for quite a ride, as it has been for me.Martial Law 06:57, 29 November 2005 (UTC)
[edit] Appreciate the info.
Really appreciate the info. Got the Idea from Coast To coast AM when a caller was told that by listening to the show, that the caller was in for quite a ride. It was a "open lines" show, and being on Wikipedia has been quite a ride.Martial Law 02:11, 30 November 2005 (UTC)
[edit] Malfunction ?
What is it with these malfunctions - or - as some say - attacks ?Martial Law 02:31, 30 November 2005 (UTC)
I thought that these malfunctions were dealt with.Martial Law 02:32, 30 November 2005 (UTC)
They were just malfunctions, such as the entire site freezing up, multiple time out signals. Appreciate the info.Martial Law 04:06, 30 November 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Question about Rocklin CA edit
Hey there DokataKahn I'm not sure why you edited my edit on Rocklin Ca. Westplacer.com is a community forum I'm trying to get up and running that includes 6 cities of the Placer county area. There's at least 4 sub forums directly related to the city of Rocklin itself, and numerous other sub forums for the other cities. I of course feel that it should belong there. Please let me know what your thoughts are. my email address is jeremie@westplacer.com thank you PS, i just created the account jeremieu, and edited the other cities that I thought were prudent for such a forum after I discovered I was removed in the first place.
[edit] WikiBreak
Hi, Dakota. Thanks for the kind note you left on my talk page several days ago. My WikiBreak was enjoyable, but few can stay away from Wikipedia for too long! :) Glad to see you again. Happy editing, Sango123 (talk) 23:49, 30 November 2005 (UTC)
[edit] Thank you
Hello Dakota. Thank you very much for your happy birthday greetings. Have a nice day. :) - Darwinek 16:54, 2 December 2005 (UTC)
DakotaKahn Thank you for pointing out something to me, the fact that my forum omitted guest list access to much of the content, and thus your proper reasoning that the site didn't inlcude any relational information to the wiki. Good catch!! thank you!!!
Yeah. Český Těšín is actually my hometown so I plan to take more pictures here. Many pictures from Poland are not uploaded yet. I am quite busy with preparing to my college exams. You are from California I guess. I saw you are Jewish. I am partially too, my grandma is Jewish. - Darwinek 10:24, 3 December 2005 (UTC)
[edit] Online...
Online now. Caught a minor site malfunction. Suspect HTML Tidy.Martial Law 23:09, 3 December 2005 (UTC)
When this malfunction indicated above is terminated, you can archive my Talk page for me, and state how this is done on my user page. Been investigating a really nasty Wonder Woman rumor, and thanks to the Wikipedians out there, terminated this ugly rumor.Martial Law 23:17, 3 December 2005 (UTC)
[edit] Mindmatrix scam adminship
I have recently been granted greater access to your systems, and can begin the process of salvaging the sensitive information from my politically unstable land, as I promised. Please accept this loonie as a token of faith that I will conduct myself as required to complete our transaction. Thank you for your support. Mindmatrix 20:29, 4 December 2005 (UTC)
[edit] Ammonium sulf/phate
Hi, I just reverted your move of Ammonium sulfate and reverted all those f/ph changes made by the anon on Dec 2. Sulfate with an f is the IUPAC spelling and the norm for Wikipedia chemical and science articles. A move such as you did should really be addressed on the talk page first, if it had the issue would, hopefully have been discussed. Also the second word in a title shouldn't be capitalized. Just wanted to let you know why I re-moved. Vsmith 23:28, 4 December 2005 (UTC)
[edit] Arcwelder
Why did you create the user Dougdodge (if you did, at least you editted that user)who created the arcwelder entry? I'm a newbee Tim Sailor 23:08, 5 December 2005 (UTC)
[edit] Dougdodge
Thanks for your reply. Dakota Kahn said: "I never created Dougdodge, don't know who that is and know nothing about arcwelding or that we even had a page on it and here is a list of who did create it:..."
Sorry, I didn't include the history link for Dougdodge, you're listed as the only history entry on October 6th. No problem at all, just curious, it must be some kind of vandelism or something, weird.
See http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=User:Dougdodge&action=history Tim Sailor 04:03, 6 December 2005 (UTC)
Just got it, you removed the Simon Oakland link (dead now) because it violated copyrighted text or image polices and indicated as such. Sorry for any confusion ~06:47 UTC
[edit] RE: about user 202.58.85.8
Sorry to bother you but this vandal user is casting oppose votes on at least 2 more rfa,s and I saw where you struck out it's vote. Can you strike those out also because I'm thinking it maybe needs an admin to do it.--Dakota t e 07:35, 6 December 2005 (UTC)
I am not an admin (yet anyway) you can request an admin to do it if you want, but mainly it is against wikipedia policy for users that have not registered to vote on RFA's, in this case contact an admin, or ask others. But if they are a vandal, go right a head and strike out and add a comment, also in page history you could see that in the past it had even been removed. 202.58.85.9 has been banned. You can normaly find people to ask in #wikipedia on irc.freenode.net --Adam1213 Talk + 07:40, 6 December 2005 (UTC)
[edit] thanks for your comment
I would appreciate it if you always sign comments on my talk page unless there is nothing between your comment and your next comment in which case add to it and move your signature below it. --Adam1213 Talk + 09:18, 6 December 2005 (UTC)
Not such a problem its just I prefer to have things on my talk page signed. --Adam1213 Talk + 09:30, 6 December 2005 (UTC)
[edit] I'm an admin now!!
Thanks a ton for your support on my rfa, the final tally was 50-0-0; I'll try and live up to the expectations of others and do my best in maintaining the integrity of Wikipedia. Thanks for your comment "good editor;" I'll strive to get the "good admin" comment as well from you ;) --Gurubrahma 14:47, 7 December 2005 (UTC)
