Dakota Sandstone

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Dakota Sandstone (also Cockrum Sandstone, Dakota Formation) is a general term for an ill-defined early Cretaceous formation of the Rocky Mountains and Great Plains. It consists of sandy, shallow-marine deposits with intermittent mud flat sediments, and occasional stream deposits.[1],[2] It is an important aquifer in some areas of the Great Plains.[3],[4]
