DAKINE is a company specializing in sportswear and sports equipment. In 1979 Rob Kaplan started manufacturing Da Kine surfboard leash which quickly gained industry recognition and praise for innovative design and bulid quality. Between 1981 and 1984 DAKINE developed world's first adjustable windsurfing footstrap and windsurfing harness. In 1986 DAKINE opened its American office, manufacturing facility and warehouse in Hood River, Oregon. 1989 saw the breakthrough when DAKINE entered snowboard market with board accessories, board bags, and gear bags. Winter gloves were introduced in 1993. In 2001 DAKINE placed another Milestone in company's history by entering Kitesurfing market with kiteboard harness.
Currently DAKINE is present on the Surfing, Skateboarding, Snowboarding, Ski, Windsurfing, Kitesurfing and Mountain Biking markets.
