Dafna Arad (in Hebrew: דפנה ארד, elsewhere mentioned as Daphna Arad) is an Israeli singer, performer and journalist.
Born in the city of Be'er Sheva in 1986, Arad was also the leader and founder of the first Israeli ska band named "Beer7", and recorded an album called 'skandal' in January 2003.
Arad was mentioned in the world media in two incidents. On September 2005 renowned conductor and pianist Daniel Barenboim was physically confronted by her during an interview on a Palestinian book [1], to which Arad came (as an IDF radio reporter) wearing her soldier uniform while Barenboim's presnce was to promote peace withe Palestine. Therefore, Barenboim became upset. Limor Livnat, then Israeli education minister, was quoted after the incident saying the composer is an antisemite [2].
Another incident that featured Arad occurred on June 21, 2005. She was on a passenger train that crashed with coal delivery truck on a deadly accident that was later referred to Israeli media as the "Revadim Disaster" [3]. Arad was not hurt and managed to report to IDF radio from the scene, only minutes after the crash. She later on appeared in Israeli channel 2 popular television show to describe the events of that day. Her statements at the show were widely quoted in the international press[4].
Dafna Arad is the younger sister of the musician and artist Roy Arad.
