Daedric Shrines in Vvardenfell

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A Daedric shrine is a fictional ruined place of worship for the Daedric Lords featured in the Elder Scrolls series of computer games. Many shrines play major parts in many events in the Elder Scrolls series, as they are mostly contacts to Daedric lords for quests.

Note: The Elder Scrolls definition of "god" is difficult. See Aedra and Daedra for further information.

[edit] Summary

There are numerous shrines to Daedric lords, dotting the rugged landscape of the island of Vvardenfell. Daedra worship is outlawed by the Tribunal Temple, as it fears the otherworldly influence the princes of Oblivion wield. However, despite extensive persecution by the Temple, there are numerous daedric cults, scattered all around Vvardenfell, often using ruined shrines for their arcane rituals.

However, some shrines are used as hideouts by simple bandits and criminals, as well as the Dark Brotherhood.

For more information on the Daedric lords and their realms, see Daedra.
