Dabat (woreda)

Dabat is one of the 105 woredas in the Amhara Region of Ethiopia. Part of the Semien Gondar Zone, Dabat is bordered on the south by Wegera, on the west by Sanja, and on the northeast by Debarq. Towns in Dabat include Dabat and Wekin.

Based on figures published by the Central Statistical Agency in 2005, this woreda has an estimated total population of 163,779, of whom 81,428 were males and 82,351 were females; 18,954 or 11.57% of its population are urban dwellers, which is less than the Zone average of 14.1%. With an estimated area of 1,199.15 square kilometers, Dabat has an estimated population density of 136.6 people per square kilometer, which is greater than the Zone average of 60.23.[1]
