D65 is one of the standard illuminants (or white points) defined by the International Commission on Illumination (CIE). It is one of a series of illuminants called D series that try to portray standard illuminanting conditions at open air in different parts of the world.
D65' corresponds roughly to a midday sun in Western / Northern Europe, hence it is considered and called as well a daylight illumination. As any standard illuminant is just a table of colorimetric average data, any light source which correlates to that spectral curve can be labelled as being a D65 light source.
The CIE 1931 chromaticity coordinates of D65 are x=0.31271, y=0.32902. The CIE 1964 chromaticity coordinates are x=0.31382, y=0.33100. These correspond to a correlated color temperature of 6500 K.
