D.J. King (born January 27, 1984, Meadow Lake, Saskatchewan) is a 23 year old left winger for the St. Louis Blues of the National Hockey League. He was drafted in the 6th round of the 2002 NHL Entry Draft, 190th overall, by the Blues.[1]

King, known as an enforcer and for his fighting skills, made his NHL debut October 5, 2006 against the San Jose Sharks after spending time in the AHL and ECHL.[6] [7]

D.J. King often fights during the second or third period if his team is losing, or if another player agitates members of his team. [8] One instance of this occurred on March 22nd, 2007, when the St. Louis Blues faced the Minnesota Wild. King's opponent was 6'7", 270 lb. enforcer Derek Boogaard. At the time, the Blues were down 4-1.[9]

After being scoreless in his first 24 NHL games, King scored his first career goal on April 4th, 2007, for the Blues in a game against the Phoenix Coyotes. He scored on Coyotes goalie Curtis Joseph.[10]

Now that the Blues' season is over, King among with other players from the Blues including Jason Bacashihua are going to play for the rest of the Peoria Rivermen's season, and post season if they make it. He played in 27 games for the Blues this year, registering two points (one goal, one assist) along with 52 penalty minutes. King has played in 35 games with the Rivermen this season, notching seven points (three goals, four assists) and 102 penalty minutes.[11]
