The Reverend D.S. Satyaranjan is a Pastor, a New Testament Scholar, and an able Administrator[1].
He was a member in the Society for Biblical Studies in India (SBSI) incorporating Biblical Scholars belonging to the Catholic and Protestant traditions.

Rev. Satyaranjan was born on January 19, 1939 in West Godavari district, Andhra Pradesh, India[2]
Discipline and obedience were natural to him.
After completing his schooling and college education, he secured a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) through the Andhra University in 1959)[3].

Accepting the 'call', Rev. Satyaranjan left for Serampore College, West Bengal to pursue Bachelor of Divinity[4].

Once he emerged out of Serampore College with a B.D. degree in 1964, he was invited to serve as an Administrative Officer at the Senate of Serampore College (University). Accepting the responsibility entrusted to him, he served in that capacity from 1965 through 1971[5] under the then Registrar, Rev. Chetti Devasahayam[6].

In the year 1971 he sought study leave and proceeded to the United Theological College, Bangalore under the principalship of Rev. Joshua Russel Chandran to pursue Master of Theology in New Testament. By 1973, he completed his M.Th.[7]

On invitation from the United Theological College, Bangalore, he served as Registrar from 1973 through 1978[8].

By 1978, the Senate of Serampore College (University) in which Rev. Satyaranjan earlier served as Administrative Officer invited him again, this time to serve as its Registrar[9].

With interest to pursue further research in Homiletics, the Senate granted him study leave and Rev. Satyaranjan proceeded to the United States of America to pursue Th.D. in the San Francisco Theological Seminary (SFTS)[10].
Subsequently, he returned to Serampore to continue to serve as the Registrar.

- Rev. J. W. Gladstone[11], the present Bishop-in-South Kerala of the Church of South India makes note about the commitment of Rev. Satyaranjan for the cause of theological education in India.
- Rev. Dr. James Massey[12] of the Dalit Solidarity Programme (DSP) notes that among the contributions of Rev. Satyaranjan to theological education in India, the most important, according to him was the establishment of the Senate Centre for Education and Pastoral Research SCEPTRE.
- Rev. Dr. H.S. Wilson[13], The H. George Anderson Professor of Mission and Cultures, in the Lutheran Theological Seminary at Philadelphia appreciates Rev. Satyaranjan and his team at the Senate of Serampore College (University) for the meticulous manner in executing theological education besides their dedicated service in spite of several challenges that came through during his term.
- Rev. Dr. Samson Prabhakar[14], the present Director of SATHRI, Bangalore in the preface admits that Rev. Satyaranjan had rendered yeoman service to the Senate of Serampore College (University) during the past quarter of the century and that he had given his best to the furthering of theological education in the South Asian region.
