Deodhar was born in Poona (now Pune), India. He was one of the premier first class batsman to lead Maharashtra . In the 1980s, the newly-established one-day zonal championship, the Deodhar Trophy, was named after him. He died in 1993 at the age of 101 at his birthplace, Pune.
