D'Angelo Sandwich Shops is a chain of sandwich shops located throughout New England. They serve various kinds of hot and cold subs, wraps, and salads.

On March 1, 1967, "Ma Riva's Sub Shop" in Dedham, Massachusetts opened its doors. Later the name was changed to Angelo and then the letter D was added, supposedly standing for "delicious." D'Angelo would serve as a pioneer in lunch offerings, making it possible for guests on the go to enjoy fresh salads and sub sandwiches, made to order.
In August of 1997, Papa Gino's Holdings Corporation, the parent company of Papa Gino's, acquired D'Angelo. D'Angelo's menu currently features more than 44 sandwiches, a variety of soups and fresh-made salads.
More than 200 D'Angelo Sandwich Shops and almost 170 Papa Gino's restaurants serve more than 50 million customers annually.[1]

The chain originally produced its menu as a list of numbered sandwiches; over time the numbers were discarded except for the "Number 9," a steak sandwich better known by its number, which has become a registered trademark of D'Angelo Sandwich Shops.
The first D'Angelos Restaurant outside New England opened in Orlando, Florida in December 2006.[2]
