D1000

The correct title of this article is d1000. The initial letter is shown capitalized due to technical restrictions.

A d1000 is a die roll used for example in some RPGs and wargames to generate a random number between 1 and 1000. The most common method is to roll 3 differently coloured ten-sided dice, where each colour has been designated to represent one of the three digits, i.e. hundreds, tens and ones. So rolling a 6, an 8 and a 0 would mean 680. A result of 000 represents 1000.

The d1000 is usually only used for very large randomization tables or for large tables where having significantly different ranges for different results is considered to be important.
