[edit] Link format
Capital letters and underscores are not required to form wikilinks. Just write the words normally: An electric vehicle... -- not An Electric_vehicle... You can also write your text in a word processing program and spell check it, then copy and paste it into wikipedia and add the wikilinks then. Someday perhaps we will get a built-in spellchecker. Rmhermen 15:26, Jun 16, 2005 (UTC)
- Thank you, I'll try to be more diligent in my spelling and grammar corrections. ThanX for clarifying link formats, Guess I should read more of the wikipedia guides, huh. --D0li0 17:05, 16 Jun 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Minor edits
High, please only use the minor edit tag when it is truly a minor edit such as a spelling corection or adding an internal link or something. Pretty much any time you change the way text reads it is not a minor edit. Thanks, and we'll get there someday on the electric vehicle articles. - Taxman Talk 02:57, July 24, 2005 (UTC)
[edit] Signature tricks
D0li0,
To make a super-neato signature of your choice, you first have to cobble together the html yourself. I happened to know how, but most people just do some from column A and some from cloumn B of other people's signatures. Then under "Preferences->User data" (proabably at the top of your screen near "log in/out") paste your html into the nickname field and tick "raw signatures". Try not to get too fancy though, some people don't like it. (Hmmm... rephrasing that.) Get as fancy as you want, but some people have been known to get grief over that (e.g. User:Theresa Knott).

[edit] Images from AustinEV
Hi, in Image:TEVan 425a.jpg you stated that all images coming from http://www.austinev.org/ are in the public domain. Could you verify that somehow? On the website they only say © Copyright AustinEV. Thanks in advance. –Mysid (talk) 09:38, September 12, 2005 (UTC)
- On such short notice I've got these EVDL messages...EVDL 1 and EVDL 2. Here is the permission messages, for future referance request and confirmation thread. --D0li0 04:53, 13 September 2005 (UTC)

[edit] EV conversion schematics
Greetings: I am creating a set of schematics for EV conversion. The first concerns pack isolation during charging and it is at Image:WPEVCContactorCharge.png and has been referenced from the Electric vehicle conversion article. I would appreciate if you could review, correct any text and please sign off as checked if the drawing and text are OK, otherwise message me at User talk:Leonard G. if the drawing must be corrected or if you do not feel qualified to judge the accuracy of the document and text. I will be making some slight cosmetic adjustments to the text within the fuses. Note that this drawing is not ANSI conforming - should it be? Thanks, Leonard G. 18:56, 29 October 2005 (UTC)
- I've added a comment regarding the fuse location, and I'm not sure where the ac line ground is going. Might want to use curly line intersections. I also sent a message to the EVDL, we'll see if anyone else chimes in with corrections or help with the article. --D0li0 04:08, 30 October 2005 (UTC)

- I have dropped curly line jumpovers in all my personal schematics - any line crossing is not connected, any line Ting in is, so to make a four wire junction, this is offset to form two Ts. It seems pretty clear to me and offers far less visual clutter. I have added a white break in horizontal lines where verticals cross That is easier with the drawing system I am using. Error on ground and fuse location also corrected. Only thing not on WP is white out under main negative run. I will update if no changes by tomorrow PM. I had put the fuse where it was on my vehicle (which I did not build, but am improving it) - thanks for the heads up, I will move it to the correct location on the vehicle as soon as I can obtain some cables. - New diagram obsoleting previous (still on file at Image:WPEVCContactorCharge.png), new at Image:WPEVCContactorCharge2B.png and referenced from article. I decided that a low current switch combined with a high current one or two pole industrial AC contactor would be better. 3PDT or 4PDT switch used and charger does not send current through this switch. Four poles allows ignition to be disabled when in charge mode. This incorporates your suggested graphic change (dots at connections). - Leonard G. 06:10, 31 October 2005 (UTC)
New electrical diagram Image:WPEVStartRun.png referenced from Electric vehicle conversion#Startup circuit. Diagram page contains explanation of the details and theory of operation and has a reference to a physical wiring diagram at Image:WPEVStartRunWires.png. These are color coded with matching colors between the two diagrams. I am pretty confident about the accuracy of these as they are a cut and paste adaptation of my as-built finalization of build documents for my current vehicle. These also each reference PDF files for printing at high resolution.
Also: Image:WPEVCContactorCharge.png is now the current one. This uses a single 3PDT (Magnecraft W389ACX-15) for use with external controllers such as used with Avcon. This references a varient for opportunity charging that has start and stop switch, so charger can be turned off before unplugging while still drawing current, avoiding arc at plug contacts. The relay is on order so this has not been completed as to controller pre-charge isolation, but I have installed the second contactor and extended charging lines on my Mazda.
[edit] Electric boat
Thanks for your help and support recently on this article. I'm sure that 166.127.1.35 is just trying to wind us up - he's talking nonsense. I've stuck a few more bits of fatherly advice for him on both the Electric Boat's talk page and his own. In the end, his recent edits are so minor that I reckon if we leave them for a while he'll soon get bored, or banned, and the article can move on without his intense involvement. But it's up to you - personally I just don't have the time or the energy right now for him. --Nigelj 21:08, 3 November 2005 (UTC)
[edit] Electric vehicle conversion moved to Wikibooks
I answered the EVDL member comments after moving the talk. Perhaps you would like to sign up as a WB registered user. I am using the same handle for both wikis, only different passwords. Get to the WB via an inter-wiki link in the electric vehicle conversion article - Leonard G. 06:32, 24 November 2005 (UTC)
