[edit] The D-BOYS

The D's meaning in the group's name, stands for "Drama (stagework)", "Dream (dream)", "Debut (debut)", "Discovery (discovery)" and "Development (growth and advancement)".

Each member also has an online blog that can be found on the D-Boy official website.

[edit] History

The three original D-Boys are Yamazaki Ichitaro, Yuya Endo, and Yanagi Kotaroh. On July 27, 2004 the first D-Boys open auditions were held with Yuichi Nakamura, Shunji Igarashi, and Katsuki Nakamura auditioning. Then in October 2004, Adachi Osamu, Araki Hirofumi, Kaji Masaki, Shirota Yuu, Suzuki Hiroki, Masato Wada, Shintaro Tetsu, Shunji Igarashi, Yuichi Nakamura, Katsuki Nakamura, and Yuma Minakawa joined the D-Boys. Then on July 31, 2005, after the second D-Boys open auditions, Kohei Kumai, Kouji Seto, and Shingo Nakagawa became the new members to join the D-Boys. In 2006, after the third D-Boys open auditions, Tomo Yanagishita joined the group.

However, there have been members of the D-Boys who have left or transferred, including Yamazaki Ichitaro (who graduated in March 2005 to pursue a solo representation), Katsuki Nakamura, and Shintaro Tetsu. By the end of January 2007, it was announced to fan club members that while both Adachi Osamu and Minakawa Yuma were still being represented by Watanabe Pro, both had officially withdrew from their commitment to the D-Boys.

Sometimes though, there will be only one or a few members representing the D-Boys for radio shows, variety shows, etc.

[edit] Photobooks

The D-Boys so far have released two Photobooks. Each photobook contains multiple photographs of each member. The first photobook released on April 27, 2005 was self-titled D-Boys, while the second, released on March 15th, 2006 was called Start.

Despite the group photobooks, there are individual D-Boys that have released solo photobooks as well:

[edit] Selected Personal TV Appearances

The D-Boys have also starred in their own drama-documentary variety series called, DD-Boys. In each episode (with a few exceptions), there is usually a four to five minute long 'drama' section with the rest of the episode dedicated to the 'documentary' section. The drama section is set in Endo and Yanagi's 'D-House', in which various D-Boys members 'visit' and act out skits that pertain to the documentary section, while the major storyline revolves around Endo's worry of being able to accumulate 200,000 yen in time for the rent. When the drama section is about to end, the producers then give a challenge to sometimes one or more D-Boys (depending on the nature of the challenge) and request them to complete the challenge while being filmed, hence the boys have their challenges documented. Each challenge varies, depending on the specific talents of each D-Boys member, sometimes challenges are completed while there are only a few times when the boys fail to complete a challenge. The show was 23 episodes long and ran from April 10th to September 25th, 2006.

  • 43rd Secret New Years' Performance Tournament "Young Man Colosseum" (January 1st, 2006) - Masaki Kaji and Hiroki Suzuki
  • DD-BOYS (April 10th - September 25th, 2006)
  • 44th Secret New Years' Performance Tournament "Chinese Lion Dance" (January 1st, 2007) - Yuya Endo, Masaki Kaji, Hiroki Suzuki, Masato Wada and Yuuma Minakawa.

[edit] Bus Tours

In order to express their gratitude to their fans and members of their fanclub, the D-Boys have given two bus tours around various cities in Japan. The bus tours give the opportunities to fan club members to directly meet the D-Boys and to be able to interact with the D-Boys in physical activities like cook-offs, tug-of-war, etc, in which the boys split into various teams, leading a group of fans to compete with the other teams.

  • Official Fanclub Day Camp Bus Tour - November 13th, 2005
  • Official Fanclub Limited Bus Tour - August 25th to August 27th, 2006
