Cynon Valley is an ex-mining area and near Rhondda, Wales. From 1974 to 1996 the area was one of the districts of Wales, formed from the Aberdare and Mountain Ash urban districts, and part of Neath Rural District, along with the parish of Penderyn from Brecknockshire.

In 1996 the area became part of the county borough of Rhondda Cynon Taff.

The Cynon Valley name continues in use in the name of the Cynon Valley Westminster constituency, created in 1983, and in the name of the Cynon Valley Welsh Assembly constituency, created in 1999.
