Cybertrust

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Cybertrust is a security-services firm based in Virginia that was formed in November of 2004 as a result of a merger of the TruSecure and Betrusted security companies. Cybertrust has also acquired a large stake in Ubizen, a European security services firm based in Belgium. It is among the largest information security firms in the world.

In 2005 Cybertrust used its majority shareholding to perform a share dilution of the remaining Ubizen shares allowing it to compulsarily acquire the remaining shares and de-list Ubizen.

Cybertrust is owned by OneEquity Partners, a division of Bank1. Betrusted was created by PwC and sold to OneEquity Partners. OneEquity Partners also purchased 90East and SecureNet (who bought the PKI component of Baltimore and the gateway operations of iSecure).

Cybertrust is the largest privately held IT security company in the world, but is dwarfed by publicly listed companies such as Symantec.
