Cx4 chip

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Cx4 chip (sometimes incorrectly called the C4 chip) is a math coprocessor used by Capcom in its Super Nintendo series Mega Man X. It is most well-known for its role in mapping and transforming wireframes, such as those seen in each game's final scenes. The only two games to use the chip were Mega Man X2 (1994) and Mega Man X3 (1995).

It should be noted that by holding the 'B' button on the second controller upon system start-up in X2, a Cx4 self-test screen could be accessed. The self-test screen was removed in X3, but is still present in X2 in both PlayStation 2 and GameCube versions of Mega Man X Collection (although harder to access due to the remapped controller configuration).
