Cwmafan (or Cwmavon in the English spelling) is a large village in south Wales. It is located in the Afan valley. It is also the name of a community coterminous with the village, in Neath Port Talbot.

A regular bus service runs through Cwmafan linking the village to the nearby town of Port Talbot. The village itself is surrounded by mountains, the biggest being 'Foel Fynyddau' which stands 370m high and lies on the northern edge of the village.

The river Afan runs through the village from NE to SW. Brynbryddan is a notable street in Cwmafan. Buses running to Cwmafan from the local bus station in Port Talbot display the name of the street.

The village has a nursery school, primary school and junior school, all situated within the same grounds.

Chris Needs is a BBC Radio Wales presenter who grew up in Cwmafan.
