Christian Weber, creative director and head designer of CW Christian Weber recalls sewing buttons on garments for his Grandmother and Great Aunt who were seasoned tailors as his earliest memories and some of his first design experiences. Born and raised in Lake Constance, Austria to parents in the Textile Manufacturing business, Christian grew up around fashion and the family business. Primarily encouraged by his paternal Grandmother, Christian as a young teenager ventured out on business trips with his father in which he became fascinated by the big weaving loom machines and the natural smell of cotton and wool.

As the ambitious Christian moved from his teens to adulthood, the young designer took to business school at the request of his parents and studied marketing and advertising in early college. While studying in Paris, Christian left for his first overseas excursion to San Francisco and began his search for fashion schools in the states. As much as Christian wanted to move directly into the fashion industry, he kept his word to his parents and completed his studies and achieved his business degree.

Following several treasured retreats to California, Christian received his formal training from the Fashion Center of Los Angeles Trade Technical College, only to return to his native Austria for an opportunity with Wolford’s Creative and Product Management Team. He then joined the design staff of BURLINGTON in Germany but it was at the turn of the new millennium when his services were called upon from the elite House of VERSACE in Milan. During his tenure with VERSACE JEANS COUTURE/VERSUS, and the VERSACE CLASSIC lines, Christian refined his design talents, took on another language (he speaks four) and continued to cultivate his aspirations of one day launching his own sophisticated lifestyle brand.

In 2005, Christian made the transition to become the Creative Director and Brand Manager for BCBG MAX AZRIA, which was based in Southern California and presented an opportunity he could not resist. After his short stint at BCBG, Christian then moved to Rock & Republic as their Design Director.

In Fall 2006, Christian went to work for his premiere collection. The CW Christian Weber Collection No. 1 draws inspiration from the permanent Arms and Armor exhibit at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City which showcases an assemblage of bejeweled weaponry and expertly fashioned battle gear, originating in Japan and Western Europe. Fall 2007 CW Christian Weber Collection No. 1 embodies the tradition that armor was not only used to protect military during combat, but simultaneously represent a soldier’s social status and wealth. Through this, Christian has created a functional yet sophisticated women’s lifestyle brand where art and wearable fashion coexist in both practical daywear to stunning eveningwear.
