In 1977 the three of us were playing in a band called the Falling Angels with Graham Spetre on vocals. We were getting frustrated with the Stones and Who songlist and wanted to get into something harder. we were invited by Neil Redfern to provide musical backing for a Pub Theatre project called "Smiles'n'Piles". It was put together by Bryan Brown and featured Chris Haywood, Julie McGregor and Sean Scully among others. We didn't know any of these people from shit but Neil was cool so we thought we'd give it a go. It was kind of a punk melodrama. We promptly shafted Graham and changed our name to Cut and Run.
