Cushing is a city in Woodbury County, Iowa, United States. It is part of the Sioux City/Iowa/Nebraska/South Dakota Metropolitan Statistical Area. The population was 246 at the 2000 census.

As of the censusGR2 of 2000, there were 246 people, 104 households, and 66 families residing in the city. The population density was 296.8/km² (771.9/mi²). There were 118 housing units at an average density of 142.4/km² (370.3/mi²). The racial makeup of the city was 100.00% White. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 0.41% of the population.
There were 104 households out of which 31.7% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 55.8% were married couples living together, 4.8% had a female householder with no husband present, and 36.5% were non-families. 32.7% of all households were made up of individuals and 23.1% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.37 and the average family size was 2.98.
In the city the population was spread out with 26.8% under the age of 18, 5.7% from 18 to 24, 26.8% from 25 to 44, 19.9% from 45 to 64, and 20.7% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 40 years. For every 100 females there were 87.8 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 87.5 males.
The median income for a household in the city was $37,500, and the median income for a family was $47,000. Males had a median income of $29,844 versus $21,719 for females. The per capita income for the city was $18,408. About 2.9% of families and 6.7% of the population were below the poverty line, including 5.5% of those under the age of eighteen and 10.0% of those sixty five or over.
