[edit] Sydney FC

Hi. Thanks for the work on the Sydney FC strips. I think you are correct, the light blue should be the same on the away kit. Having seen the home shirt in the shops I would suggest that your home shirt is rather close. I would get rid of the orange and just make the arm all dark blue. Tancred

[edit] Perugia, Serie A, Italian football

I just have updated all the articles related to Italian football with the new official situation. The situation for Perugia, Torino and Salernitana was certain, because they asked for the lodo Petrucci, that is a way to be included in the immediate lower division with a different ownership. Anyway, right on today it was sentenced all as official. Ciao. --Angelo 17:14, 16 August 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Re: Alexa

If you go to www.alexa.com, and type in the domain name of the website it will give you a traffic report just next to the screenshot of the site's homepage. Lower is better e.g. google.com is 3rd. There're also links that will show you how many sites link in to a given domain (useful to see if it has a low traffic rank but is important within its community) as well as more detailed traffic graphs that show how its rank is varying over time. There's generally quite a bit of resistance on VfD to anything with a rank worse than 5000th unless there is something else important about the site/organization in question. Not a hard-and-fast rule of course. There's a formative discussion over at WP:WEB thinking about these kinds of questions. -Splash 00:55, 20 August 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Nations Cup/World Cup merge

I'm very pleased with the rewrite. I'm very glad you rid the article of: "There is a theory that Australia intentionally drew the final match against Solomon Islands so as to avoid meeting New Zealand, a possibly harder opponent, in the final stage." I had never heard this theory (and sounded like a point of view), and I was considering removing it per WP:NPOV. The only thing that needs cleaned up in the article is just the addition of links (possibly, though I don't think entirely necessary). Thanks once again

[edit] Football/soccer/the game/the sport

Thanks. I just figure it's good style, all debating aside --- English has a massive vocabulary, and using it well means you can avoid repetition. As for the football/soccer thing, I think we should aim for (1) following majority local usage and (2) clarity, which means "football" for soccer in Sydney, and "football" for Aussie Rules in Melbourne, Perth and Adelaide, but I quite understand why soccer players disagree. (Am I the only person here who likes both games? ;o) J.K. 03:16, 21 August 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Wikipedia:Votes for deletion/WikiProject Wikipedians for Decency

Thanks for the heads up about the anon signing my name on the VfD closure. This first closure was not me, but I have taken it as a request that I close the VfD. I have closed the VfD myself as No consensus (the anon claimed a keep consensus). --Allen3 talk 02:48, August 23, 2005 (UTC)

[edit] User:Kyla t oldt c

Doug Robb is not Japanese first of all...He is multiracial or eurasian but he is not a full Japanese. That's one thing multiracial people have to learn to accept. They don't have an identity. They have to accept both cultures not just one. so i'm deleting the catagory japanese americans b/c it doesn't make any sense at all. (Kyla 02:38, 26 August 2005 (UTC))

It's not a big article anyway..if it was a huge article of course I'll write the edits. But for other people's sake, I'll write the edits in the future. (Kyla 02:49, 26 August 2005 (UTC))

well I thought sex symbols were celebrities that have a lot of sex appeal...Eurasian people seem to have the most sex appeal out of everyone. Kristin Kreuk is an sex symbol as well as other eurasian celebrities, don't you think so? (Kyla 02:54, 26 August 2005 (UTC))

so what do you think? Do you think eurasian people are the best loking people in the world? You can say no if you don't feel that way. I just find them so attractive. I'm going to take all the eurasian people down since most people don't find them attractive. Sorry about the misunderstanding. (Kyla 03:03, 26 August 2005 (UTC))

alright...i changed it back to the way it was...better? (Kyla 03:06, 26 August 2005 (UTC))

why thank you! I worked so hard doing all the links to the WB! At least I can do something right! (Kyla 20:53, 26 August 2005 (UTC))

hey...check out the article Alternative school! I added some of it...and I don't know if I did the copyright things correctly for the picture I uploaded. Any tips about the article or the picture or the copyright stuff would be appreciated. (Kyla 01:59, 28 August 2005 (UTC))

How could Welch be considered a sex symbol? There's no proof! It just says on Wikipedia...(Kyla 21:05, 11 September 2005 (UTC)) and by the way I removed her picture and replaced her picture as Tera Patrick on the Sex symbol article....hope you don't mind.

alright i get your point...I added her on the sex symbols category! (Kyla 21:15, 11 September 2005 (UTC))

alright I put Rachel back on the category...(Kyla 21:28, 11 September 2005 (UTC))

Give me one good reason why you think Tera Patrick is not a sex symbol! You just had to remove her just like that! (Kyla 21:41, 11 September 2005 (UTC))

And also you said Kristin Kreuk was okay to be listed as a sex symbol. Once again you removed her picture!

And also you said Kristin Kreuk was okay to be listed as a sex symbol. Once again you removed her picture! (Kyla 21:42, 11 September 2005 (UTC))

you removed the pictures and put Spears and Welch instead. I saw the pictures..you completely changed it...and I put it back. Tera is known for her eurasian appearance..it says so on her wikipedia site. (Kyla 21:54, 11 September 2005 (UTC))

[edit] WikiProject A-League

Hi Cursive, I noticed you've contributed to pages related to the A-League competition - I started a WikiProject for it, and thought you might be interested in participating. Thanks! AlbinoMonkey (Talk) 05:36, 6 December 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Wikipedia:Wikifun

[edit] WikiProject AFL

G'day, just wondering if you'd like to join WikiProject AFL. There seems to be a lack of awareness that such a project exists due to the previous inactivity on this site. But it's here, and I hope you will join. Cheers, Rogerthat 07:13, 18 December 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Socceroos Linkspam - An Apology

Hi There,

Just wanted to say, sorry for the "linkspam" on the Socceroos page that you removed. I'm new to Wikipedia and when I saw the "just go and edit" messages, I thought that I would try and help.

Anyways - sorry again and if you could let the other people in the A-League WikiProject know that my intentions were good, then that would be great.

Cheers!

[edit] What can we do about this?

Self-Grantifican of the wiki versus a proper football intro What is a the procedure for doing something about this? --Executive.koala 13:26, 4 March 2006 (UTC)

Ta. What he writes is actually quite funny because it's so astonishingly misguided. Unfortunately, it's quite destructive to the football project. I know my work often needs rewording and expansion, but his propaganda is embarrassingly desperate. --Executive.koala 14:02, 4 March 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Sheilas Wogs and Poofters

What do you think? Should we have an entry for Sheilas Wogs and Poofters? What a great book title that is. Random House I lent my copy to someone and haven't got it back.  :( He died as Mr Soccer and lives on as Mr Football. --Executive.koala 16:20, 4 March 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Hilarious

Mate, they’re on the payroll of the AFL. Wikipedia is an AFL promotional vehicle. What is this Sliat 1981 guy think he's contributing? --Executive.koala 08:12, 18 March 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Sliat 1981

sliat_1981 here. Just a simple mistake with the footballer (soccer) player. I think you'll see 90% of them are football (soccer) player, so there won't be a lot of work to do. Not nearly as much as I had to do changing them all from just simply footballer. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Sliat 1981 (talkcontribs).

[edit] Edit summaries

When editing an article on Wikipedia there is a small field labelled "Edit summary" under the main edit-box. It looks like this:

Edit summary text box

The text written here will appear on the Recent changes page, in the page revision history, on the diff page, and in the watchlists of users who are watching that article. See m:Help:Edit summary for full information on this feature.

When you leave the edit summary blank, some of your edits could be mistaken for vandalism and may be reverted, so please always briefly summarize your edits, especially when you are making subtle but important changes, like changing dates or numbers. Thank you.

Sorry, I've also had to remove a fair-use image which can't be used fairly on a User page. --Mel Etitis (Μελ Ετητης) 16:33, 18 March 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Football

Well spotted for noticing the the fact that the Marshall Islands Soccer Association (if it exists at all) isn't associated to FIFA. The original Wikipedia reference for this comes from the discussion here [1] - but, it was never suggested that the associations listed were actually part of FIFA, just thay they spoke English and the organizations were the governing bodies for the sport in those countries. So the figure of 48 fir English speaking affiliates might also be wrong. Jooler 22:36, 18 March 2006 (UTC)

[edit] WP A-League player project

WP A-League players

10% complete

Hi Cursive!

I just wanted to let you know about the big WikiProject A-League 2005–06 player project. It is an attempt to bring the articles on every player who played in the A-League in 2005–06 up to standard. Check out the main page for the player project to get the full list of players as well as useful links and stats to help out. Hopefully we can get the full list done before the beginning of the 2006–07 season. Don't forget to update the counts (they will automatically update the status bar) as you go. Thanks! AlbinoMonkey (Talk) 10:16, 5 May 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Seeking an opinion

As an experienced Wikipedian with an interest in football pages and a record of work on a Featured Article, your opinion would be welcomed on a discussion at Talk:Swansea City A.F.C.. After various attempts to add a site with no original content, the site's owner has now recruited someone else to do the same. The question is this: am I correct to delete links to sites which themselves consist of others' copyrighted material and links to other sites? Given the paucity of real content, I have a strong suspicion that the site is operated on a "cash for clicks" basis.

I would like, ultimately, to see the Swansea City A.F.C. Wikipage reach Featured standard, so I am inviting opinions from Wikipedians with sustantial edit histories. Thank you for your time. - Stevecov 15:07, 29 May 2006 (UTC)

[edit] A-League 2006-07 Newsletter I

Introduction
The first ever Wikiproject A-League newsletter is here! The 2006-07 A-League season will bring the usual enjoyment and fanaticism that only football/soccer can create. This new season also means a lot of (currently-open) tasks that require completion throughout the course of the next 21 weeks.
Position Ladder
A Position Ladder will be placed on each team page, which will provide an up-to-date visualization of the current A-League standings. However, problems may occur when Position Ladders aren't updated with the new statistics that don't involve matches of the team whose page the Position Ladder resides on. To remedy this, a base Position Ladder will be created, which will be located at {{2006-07 A-League Position Ladder}} (link). Please update this as soon as possible after the match has ended, as this will keep the Wikipedia community informed.

A few notes regarding the base Position Ladder:-

  • Please do not substitute the Position Ladder template on the team pages, as it won’t get automatically updated if you do.
  • Please only update the Position Ladder at the end of a match, and if there is any large dispute about the result, do not add it, but instead wait for an official report by the A-League confirming the result.
  • When updating, make sure to adjust all of the below fields:-
    • The played field – add one (eg. 13→14 etc.)
    • Either the win, loss or draw field, depending on the result for that team.
    • The points field – either add 3 points (win), 1 point (draw) or leave the same (loss)
    • The for and the against section
    • Make sure you repeat this process for both teams – not just the team you follow!
Summary Tables
Each team page will have a Summary Table added to it, which will provide an at-a-glance look at the results of the team throughout the season. We ask that, at every chance you get, you fill in the results of these Summary Tables – it only takes a few seconds, but it will help keep the uninformed "in the loop" – it is an encyclopedia we’re writing, after all.

As with the Position Ladders, a few notes about the Summary Tables:-

  • Please place the winner in bold text (using '''winning team''').
  • With the crowd figures, please only place a comma if the attendance is over 10,000 people (eg. use 8648 instead of 8,468 and 11,482 instead of 11482).

WikiProject A-League Newsletter
Issue II – September 2006
Current Player project status

A-League News

Project News
  • The Player project has been moved, overhauled and refined. It now is not limited to the 2005-06 player list. However, only 10% of articles are considered "complete", and hopefully we can get this figure to approach 100% by the end of the season.
  • Major changes to the layout of the 2006-07 A-League season page have taken place recently, and an infobox created. A table for attendances, as well as top scorer etc. are now in place. All users are encouraged to update the scores for completed matches as they come in.
  • Recently, Perth Glory F.C. was moved to Perth Glory FC after no objections were raised at the Wikiproject talk page. All links to the old page (including various templates) were changed.
  • The project requires pictures of games and stadiums to help improve articles. Any pictures are much appreciated.
  • The A-League Portal has been set up. Feel free to update the scores, and make sure you check out the selected article and picture each fortnight.
  • The football (soccer) barnstar has recently became the official award of the Wikiproject. Feel free to hand it out to anyone you see making excellent contributions to all things A-League related.

[edit] Expansion of WP:A-League

Hi Cursive,

Just thought I'd let you know there is currently a proposal to expand WikiProject A-League to include all areas of football/soccer in Australia, including the NSL, A-League, Socceroos, state leagues and more. A more formal proposal page can be found here. Please indicate whether you support the idea or not at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject A-League, and also add your 2c about what the new project should be called. Cheers! – AlbinoMonkey (Talk) 04:11, 19 October 2006 (UTC)
