Current Procedural Terminology

The Current Procedural Terminology is the list maintained by the American Medical Association to provide unique billing codes for services rendered. The current version is the CPT 2007.
It is divided into three sections:
- Category I CPT Code(s)
- Category II CPT Code(s) – Performance Measurement
- Category III CPT Code(s) – Emerging Technology
It currently is used as Level 1 of the Health Care Procedure Coding System.
