Curator (Freedom City)
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Curator is a fictional Artificial intelligence from the Freedom City campaign setting of the superhero role-playing game Mutants and Masterminds. It is analogous to DC's Brainiac or Marvel's Collector, with the former more closely.
Long ago, an alien race built a massive ringworld and programmed its caretaker computer to collect rare, unique or interesting items, beings and species from all over the Galaxy, and bring them to the ringworld for study. For unknown reasons, the project was abandoned, but the computer is still compelled to carry out its primary program.
The Curator sends out remote-controlled robot drones to do its collecting. Since the Curator is too vast, too powerful and (for most characters) too distant to be attacked directly, it is usually these drones that must be dealt with. The Curator is interested in Freedom City's Earth, with its multitude of superhumans, hidden civilizations and visiting aliens. It also has the infinite patience of the machine, and if it doesn't get what it wants, it may simply try again later.
