Cupertino Middle School is a middle school (grades 6-8) located in Sunnyvale, California, in the Cupertino Union School District. It was opened in April 1956. IAs of 2006, it had an enrollment of about 1300. The school is widely known for its reputation for sports championships; it won first place in the 2006 sectionals for track and field, 8th grade Softball[citation needed]. The 8th grade class graduating in June 2006 was the school's 50th.

[edit] The Campus

The school it is not as big as most of the others in the district but it has many trees and flowers to help beautify the campus. It is located directly next to a park, which contains 3 grass fields, three baseball fields, many basketball courts, and bleachers. There are also two playgrounds. There is a quad, in the center of the school. A few classrooms and the multi-use room are located directly on the quad. There are also two gym-type rooms. One is the multi-use room, which also contains the brunch/lunch line. The other is right off the quad and is officially the gym. It also is much larger and contains bleachers.

The school is widely known not only for its academic prowess, but is also known for its after school sports. It is one of the best performing schools not only in the San Francisco Bay Area but in the state. Unfortunately Cupertino Middle School has the lowest ranking in all of Cupertino Middle Schools but therefore has the best sports teams that even have crushed Lawson Middle School

Although it is called Cupertino Middle School, it is actually located in the city of Sunnyvale, California. It is also located just across the freeway from Los Altos, California and West Valley Elementary School.

Apple Co-founder, Steve Jobs attended Cupertino Middle School. He later attended Homestead High School, in Cupertino, CA.

-The schools that feed into it are Montclaire, in Los Altos, West Valley, Nimitz, and Stocklmeir (the latter three are located in Sunnyvale).

-People who attend the school are about 1/2 from West Valley and about 1/3 each from West Valley, Nimitz, and Stocklmeir.
