Cup-a-Soup is an instant soup product made by Lipton/Unilever.

The soup is made by pouring the soup sachet into a mug or cup, and then pouring 3/4 cup (6 fluid ounces) of hot water into the mug and stirring the mixture.

Recently, there has been a new release of a jar featuring approximately 12 servings.

Some flavors include minestrone, chicken noodle, tomato soup and chicken & vegetable.

Low-calorie versions also exist in the UK, under the name slim-a-soup, and include slightly different flavours, such as mediterranean tomato.

The last year has also seen the introduction of 'Cup-a-Soup Extra', which are individual sachets of soup and pasta sold in a variety of flavours, including Cheese & Broccoli (with tagliatelle), chicken & mushroom (with pasta), Minestrone, and Tangy Salsa Tomato.

[edit] Pluralisation

Grammarians have argued as to the correct plural form of Cup-a-soup. Some believe the correct form is Cups-a-soup, whereas others contest that being a registered trademark that the correct form is Cup-a-soups. This was discussed on BBC Radio 4's A Word In Your Ear, first broadcast on 17th March 1987.
