Cuonzo Martin

Cuonzo LaMar Martin (born September 23, 1971 in East St. Louis, Illinois) is an American former professional basketball player and a current assistant collegiate basketball coach.

A 6'5" guard-forward at Purdue University, he helped the Boilermakers win consecutive back-to-back Big Ten Titles in the mid-ninetees, along with NBA star Glenn Robinson. Known for his tough defense, he held future NBA players Shawn Respert of Michigan State and Wisconsin's Michael Finley to their season lows in scoring his senior year. Also he held Purdue's career 3 point field goal record (now held by Jaraan Cornell and second to David Teague).

Martin was the 57th pick in the 2nd round of the 1995 NBA Draft to the Atlanta Hawks. He played in only seven career NBA games for the Vancouver Grizzlies (an expansion team) and Milwaukee Bucks in a one year span. He also played professionally in the CBA and in Italy.

Currently, he is an assistant coach at Purdue University, under his former teammate, Matt Painter. He was previously assistant to his former coach, Gene Keady.
