A revision of periods 1945-present could either reclassify Soc-Realism/Modern to something like PRL/III RP or Soc-Real/Solidarity/Post-Solidarity. Current classifications fail to really capture the changing mindset, and could make it a lot easier to write. The WWII article should pretty straightforward, and the missing interbellum (II RP) article seems important, but is a bit beyond me. Cinema is missing. rmo13 18:14, 14 February 2006 (UTC)

I propose we divide up the article into sections by art (i.e. Literature), with each section linking to a main article (Main article: Literature of Poland). I think that's better than having a massive "History" section. Appleseed 16:01, 23 September 2005 (UTC) Amen.---
Pop culture seems to be completely missing: Poezja śpiewana, etc. Jazz reference misses the great jazz of the II RP. Film also misses interbellum. A folk section could help those of us who can't tell a Krakowiak from a Mazurka or think all Polish kapela sound like Eddie B. rmo13 18:14, 14 February 2006 (UTC)

I propose removing the links on the words 'culture' and 'Poland' at the start of the article. I just wanted to check whether there was a prior decision that agreed upon the links. Ciraric 13:33, 26 December 2005 (UTC)
[edit] Some thoughts
1. The article reads more like a travel brochure than an encyclopedia article.
2. I would mention Oskar Kolberg's vast ethno-musicological work (see http://www.oskarkolberg.pl/).
3. In her book, Music in the Culture of Polish Galicia -- 1772-1914, Jolanta T. Pekacz makes Polish culture (i.e., Polish Galicia in the specified time period) sound much more insular and less cosmopolitan than this article does.
[edit] Merge Romanesque with Gothic
On our current template we have separate articles for Romanesque and Gothic periods. Yet Romanesque redirects to Romanesque architecture, and Gothic is a disambiguation page. I'd like to replace those two links with Middle Ages in Poland (which we could base on this great resource [1], for a start). Polish Middle Ages basically fit nicely into the European High Middle Ages (which start around 1000 AD, and incorporate both Romanesque and Gothic periods). I just spent considerable amount of time editing this article for clarity fully aware of the fact that this is not a finished encyclopedic entry by any stretch of the imagination. It is, but an essay reminiscent of a Foreword to an anthology on Polish culture, giving only an indication of the main areas of interest to be researched by the reader. Not all individual suppositions could be referenced in such a generalist approach. Therefore, to provide sources in order to meet the request stated: {unreferenced||date=December 2005}} is not a reasonable expectation in my view at this stage of development.

[edit] Chapter on Science
I'm afraid User 82.239.2.132 who on 23 December 2006 added a new chapter called Science, misunderstood the subject and purpose of this article. There's a different article for User 82.239.2.132 to devote his/hers energy to called Science in Poland.
For comparison, articles on Cultures of France, Germany, England, and Italy share a number of themes across the national borders like Art, Literature (Language), Religion, Education (Schools/Academia), Cuisine, etc. There's no place for Science in an article on culture. Sorry.
