[edit] History

CEA was founded after CEO, Brian J. Boubek, completed a study abroad program in France while studying at DePaul University. The lack of support and organization he received prompted him to start Cultural Experiences Abroad (CEA) from his parent's basement in order to provide a better experience to other students which would allow them to focus on academic and cultural enrichment. CEA's first destination was Dijon, France. Since 1996, CEA has emerged as a competitor in the field of study abroad. The company now employs over 80 people worldwide and has experienced growth exceeding 30% each year. Inc.com has Ranked Cultural Experiences Abroad twice on it's list of 500 fastest growing companies.[2] (#67 in 2003, #225 in 2004)

[edit] Current Projects

CEA GlobalCampus Network, was launched orignially in 2005 with the first center in Paris. Shortly following, a second center was opened in Barcelona. Now comprising five centers in Europe with accreditation provided by the University of New Haven, the CEA GlobalCampus offers students courses that claim to immerse the student in the cultural aspects of the city while integrating business, art, or other applicable topics into the curriculum. The future of the CEA GlobalCampus Network is to enable (1) networked courses (e.g. students from one campus can engage courses from a seperate campus) and (2) University-lead group programs to allow U.S. professors to travel overseas with a class to teach in the context of their subjects. Additional options for the centers may include local enrollment and professional development courses. Currently the CEA GlobalCampus Network includes centers in Barcelona, Florence, Madrid, Paris, Rome, and Seville.
